How to godaddy mx records gentoo

I'm trying to set up smtp mail services with Godaddy as the mail host,

It gives me following error fromt he Godaddymail fixed MX smtp.secureserver.net. 14400 0
    Godaddymail1 MX mailstore1.secureserver.net. 14400 0

There's an "A" record called "mail" but it's unclear how to set that up, or IF to set that up.

You need to register the domain name with the Log in to your account at godaddy site. Open the Domains tab and select My Domain Names. You'll be directed to the Manage Domains page. Click the domain that you'd like to use with Google Apps. From the Domain Details page, click on the Total DNS Control and MX Records link. It will be listed under the Total DNS: section. For each MX Record, enter information which ever you like, lick OK. The interface will show a Pending… status in the Actions section after you've made changes to your records.

If you purchased your domain name from GoDaddy site while signing up for Google Apps, you shouldn't use these instructions.Your main problem is likely to be the Name component. This should be the domain name. e.g. example.com (or which means origin which usually equals the domainname). As explained by SomeoneE1se you have a hostname there which will be prepended to your domain name.
