Router Problem

I am having a problem with a new laptop with connecting to the internet. I have a linksys router and my desktop is fine with it, but not the laptop. The laptop is a HP Pavilion dv4-1465dx. How can I connect it? Anyone here have a similiar problem? Should I contact Linksys people? I am not that computer savvy with these things. :-(
