Navigation cancelled and address field changed to about:protectedmodeoff

Whenever, I browse the webpage by entering the website name in the address bar, I get the error message - "Navigation to the webpage was cancelled" and the address filed changes to the following URL, about: protectedmodeoff. Can anyone please help to solve this problem ?

I think the websites you are being browsing is not in the list of trusted sites. I would suggest you to go through this microsoft article to solve your problem - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967941

Place both the sites into the Internet Zone
OR
Place both the sites into the Trusted Sites Zone.

Restart your web browser.

This ensures that "Protected Mode" is enabled by default for both sites and does not get toggled.

To disable the protected Mode for the "Trusted Sites" zone.

1. Click Start, type Internet Options in the Start Search box, and then click Internet Options in the Programs list.
2. Click the Security tab, and then click Trusted Sites in the Select a zone to view or change security settings area.
3. Click to clear the Enabled Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer) check box, and then click OK.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.
