i'm assuming you're using wireless? have you tried the same downloads while wired to the router? you could narrow the issue if the problem resolves itself (your wireless) or if it doesn't (your ISP, modem, cabling, or the dl source).

you could also do a reset on the modem and router - power both down, then power the modem back on, wait til connected, and then power the router back on. and if it is on your wireless, you could try a different channel on the wireless router to try to avoid any possible interference.

make sure your adapter has "clear" passage for the signal to come and go, also make sure you dont have other interference (other wireless devices).

    Hi,
use Free Download Manger. It will automatically resume the download. So you do not have to worry about network connectivity.

Are you not able to browse at all now? Check and make sure that there isn't any firewall software blocking incoming and outgoing connections to the two machines.

Are you connected thru ther router wirelessly or thru a wire?Have you tried with another browser like Firefox.

Also you could troubleshoot you network devices with Netsh, which is Windows XP utility that allows see or modify the network configuration of your computer. It a graphical user interface (GUI) if you don't like to use command prompt.
Just click Start>Run and type Netsh Diag GUI On the Network Diagnostics page click Scan System (you could set scanning options if you need more details).
