Webcam won't work with Windows Live Messenger 2009

    Hi all ...

I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv6000, with Windows Vista, equipped with an integrated webcam. It works correctly because I use it without problems with the Skype software, and it is said in the utility management device that works and that its drivers are up to date.

Well my worries just Windows Live Messenger 2009, with which I am unable to access my webcam! All attempts to start video conversation lead to a "crash" and the closure of the software. Same when I try to access the audio and video settings (or more specifically, the audio track opens and the suspension as soon as I click to move to the next component video ...)

I do not know what to do, my computer skills are limited ... So I turn to you and thank you in advance for your help ...

This could a problem of compatibility. Try to find if your web cam is compatible with windows live messenger for this you have to download from microsoft "amcap.exe". Run it and if you have more than one webcam installed, click the Devices menu and select the one you want to use.

    • Click the Options menu, then click “Video capture Pin.”
    • Under “Color Space/Compression:”, choose one of the following formats:
      • GB 24 (recommend)
      • I420
      • IYUV

Note: If one of the options above isn’t in the list, then your webcam is not compatible.

    • Under “Output Size”, choose one of the following:
      • 160 x 120
      • 320 x 240

Note: If one of the options above isn’t in the list, then your webcam is not compatible.

    • Click OK
    • Close the ampcap application.
    • From your desktop, click ‘Start’ and select ‘Run’.
    • In the run box, type: dxdiag
    • In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
    • On the System Tab under ‘System Information’, look for DirectX version. Verify that your version is DirectX 9.0. If it is, just click Exit. If your version is older than 9.0 (any lower number), download the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft.
