To set your new mail notification:

    • Choose Tools, Options
    • On the Preferences tab, click on the Email Options button
    • Click on the Advanced Email Options button
    • In the When new items arrive in my Inbox section, check the required options.
    • Click on OK

Just check something for us please:

Right click on Start-> Properties-> Taskbar Tab-> Customize

In the Customize Notifications box, do you have a "new mail" option in the list and what's it set to under the 'Behaviour' column?

If it's set to 'Always Hide' or 'Hide when inactive', change it to 'Always Show'.

The settings are on Tools--> Options--> Email Options--> Advanced Email Options and "When new items arrive in my Inbox". "Show an envelope icon in the notification area".You can also customize how long the 'fading alert' stays up.

Re: New mail notification to appear on Task bar

    Follow the below steps mention:

    1. Enable the Windows taskbar auto-hide option: Right-click the taskbar and select the option "Auto-hide the taskbar".

    2. In Notes, enable the mail notification option "Show a popup". This setting is located under File > Preferences > Mail. Note: To speed the test you may want to set your "Check for new mail every N minutes" to a value of 1.

    3. Make sure that Notes is maximized.

    4. Send yourself a memo.

    5. When the new mail notification dialog appears, prior to clicking "OK" move your mouse to the taskbar location. The taskbar will appear as expected.

    6. Click "OK" to close the notification. Now move your mouse to the taskbar location - the taskbar will not appear.

    7. Minimize, and then re-maximize Notes. The taskbar will now appear as expected until another new mail notification popup occurs and you have clicked "OK".
