explorer.exe does not work

hello to all!

I have of the troubles with a computer fortified of XP SP2 not connected to Internet. From yesterday when within the explorer it does not seem to work: it explores resources does not succeed to open itself and also the programs do not leave.

I have the impression that it lacks something (DLL, driver, that I know).

Before formatting, I wanted some opinion:
- When they are in temporary modality, what I must watch in order to see if there are troubles (management peripheral does not mark it null)? Exists some utility diagnostic that leaves in temporary modality?
- You have idea of what can block the explorer. On the credit side start leaves only driver of the card the video (nvidia) and of the audio; even if autoruns it gives a DLL directory to me that I know little.
- I have recently installed and uninstalled Kaspersky AV 2009 (I thought to connect in future the PC to Internet; also I have uninstalled codec video divx that no use and Real programs

I would begin with installing Service Pack 3 from here
