    Video Chatting problem in Skype

    Hi,
I am running on Windows xp on my Hp laptop, I started using this web cam on my skype account and every few minutes the screen will turn completely green. It may flicker a few more frames of me but the will go straight back to green again, causing me to close the call and restart. What can i do to fix this ?

P.S I have Intex web cam

This sounds identical to a problem I had, and I found the problem had to do with DirectX.

Hit START and select RUN and enter: dxdiag

Select the display tab at the top of the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window.

Locate the DirectDraw Acceleration option and Disable it.

Now close the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window by choosing exit.

If this works, and I hope it will for you, you should no longer be experiencing the green screen. Be aware that some programs, noticably games will require that DirectDraw be enabled. Just follow the steps above again to open the Diagnostic Tool window and enable DirectDraw.

There are just a few steps that you can follow to try to fix this problem:

    • If you are running XP, update your Microsoft DirectX 9.0c. Don't trust the version number go to the Microsoft download page and get the latest "DirectX End-User Runtime" and install it.
    • Update your display adapter drivers
    • Update your camera drivers
    • Uninstall any additional camera software other than the drivers, even if it came with the camera

If none of this works, your choices are to sit tight until the next release of Skype comes out, or try an older version of Skype to see if it avoids this problem.

This could be one of a few things..

But seeing as how it works fine as you put it the first 30 seconds, I doubt its the drivers. It sounds to me like the server your using the webcams on (if skype has one) is a little slow. This is a possibility.

Or, your connections can't handle two webcams at the same time. Slower processors that have low Internet speeds often do this. One thing I would recommend trying is to use one webcam at a time back and forth. If this works, its your internet connections.
