    Why does my email disappear in Windows Mail

    I recently got a new laptop which has Vista Ultimate. I'm using Windows Mail on laptop. After I read messages in my inbox, if I close Windows Mail and then go back later, the messages are gone. Not deleted, just totally gone? Also, I have Outlook Express 6 on my desktop, using the same email address but I don't get all of my emails on either computer. Some on the desktop, some on the laptop. I have clicked on the setting "leave messages on the server". Any suggestions?

    You may have an option set to hide read messages. On your main WM tool bar

    View > Current View > Hide read messages

    Change it to Show all.

    How about the "Hide" selections (Read messages, Read or Ignored messages, and Answered messages), are they all UNchecked? If any of these have checkmarks, you will be hiding messages from view.

    Have you checked to see if you selected a delete option under Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Advanced?

    I have a couple Windows Vista Mail problems, which may point to the same thing: Firstly, in some sub folders into which I have put various mails, each one now show "Message cannot be found
    The contents of this message cannot be found." or, in other cases, it actually point to a completely different email! Secondly, new folders keep appearing in the Recovered Messages folder, but with no (apparent) content at any sub-level.. I am running Kaspersky with email-checking enabled. Having consulted another 'techy', it was suggested that perhaps the mail database is corrupted and that I would have to rebuild it (if possibble).. How do I do that?? I've looked in Mail, but cannot find any function like that.. Please help.
