    Re: Intsall UK english or other Spell checker in Windows Live Mail

    Windows Live Mail includes the English (US) spell check dictionary built-in, but the option is not exposed for some unknown reason. To enable the English (United Kingdom) spell check dictionary follow given steps:

    1. Copy the files spell.ini, mssp3en.lex, MSSpell3.DLL from the following folder:%ProgramFiles%\Windows Live\Mail\Proof\prf0009\2\

    2.Paste it in following folder:
    %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Proof\prf0809\1 (Windows XP)
    %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Proof\prf0809\1 (Windows Vista)

    3.After copying the files, you need to edit the spell.ini file (using Notepad) in the destination path, and set the Lang value to 2057, which is the Locale ID decimal for English, United Kingdom. Save the file. The spell.ini file should now show the following contents:
    [Spellchecker]
    Engine=MSSPELL3.DLL
    Lex=MSSP3EN.LEX
    Lang=2057

    Done!

    Set the English (UK) spell check as the default:
    • Start Windows Live Mail
    • Use ALT+T keyboard shortcut to access the Tools menu
    • Click Options
    • Select the Spelling tab
    • Select English (United Kingdom), click Set Default and click OK.

    Re: Intsall UK english or other Spell checker in Windows Live Mail

    The spell checkers for all additional languages reside at %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Proof\prf00xx\1 - where "xx" defines the name of the language.

    The following "xx" variables relate to:
    "0A" = Spanish (Traditional Sort)
    "0C" = French (France)
    "07" = German (Germany)

    The following "xx" codes add the following language names to the Windows Live Mail spell check menu:
    "01" = Arabic (Saudi Arabia)
    "02" = Bulgarian
    "03" = Catalan
    "04" = Chinese (Taiwan)
    "05" = Czech
    "06" = Danish
    "08" = Greek
    "0B" = Finnish
    "19" = Russian

    The "xx" code that adds English (UK) to the list of languages in the spell check menu. This would allow us to use the Tools / Options / Spelling menu to select English (UK) OR English (US) - without having to edit the spell.ini file.
