Unable to surf internet

Here is my pb: I have an Asus laptop with windows vista home sp1, when I want to surf the internet is impossible. By connecting the venation of my cable box, the pc tells me that he logged on the internet but when I launch IE or Fire fox, no page is displayed except the classic error page. Note that windows update works because the PC is updated, however update my virus definition (avast family) is impossible and it says can not connect to the server.

Your problem looks like a DNS problem. Could you give us the result of the command "ipconfig / all" if you like. This order must be placed in a shell (Start / Run and type cmd)
