Nothing comes after IE8
I am under XP SP2
Friday morning, opening my computer, I see a window telling me that a new version of Internet Explorer 8 is available ... I click ...
Now I've got nothing!
I have not been able to install IE 8, IE 7 has disappeared and I am not come to reinstall IE 6 or IE 7 ... I always have the same message: "Internet Explorer 7 (or could not be installed. You must restart your system to confirm the cancellation of any changes to your system.
After restarting, follow the shortcut "Troubleshooting Internet Explorer on the desktop for more information."
Even following the instructions in the shortcut that was created to anything I can!
So I decided to restore my computer at a later date ...
In the "Select a date" is the empty, no date appears! I even clicked on "next" to see ... Nothing! I click on "previous" ... Nothing!
I tried also "undo last restoration" ... Nothing happens!
"Create a restore point," ... Unable to put anything in the "Description of the restore point"
Well, I was searching for help "reboot" Whatever I do not understand anything ...
I restarted my computer by clicking F8 ... I tried many times ... Nothing happens!
I do not have Windows XP disc that I could go back into the machine because the software was originally in the machine ...
What do I do now?
Thank you for your help

Re: Nothing comes after IE8
IE8 is not yet download able as. It was not until RC1, so a pick. So there is a small problem you had in direct proposal. At your place I would do the virus - anti malware (spybot - Adaware) to confirm if you do something mug.

Re: Nothing comes after IE8
To troubleshoot the startup problem, follow these steps:
1. Delete shared libraries and allow the first run installer to reinstall them cleanly. See the steps in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article for a list of files to delete:
192852 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/192852/EN-US/ ) How to Manually Uninstall Internet Explorer and Outlook Express
2. Move all the plug-ins to a folder on the desktop, reinstall Internet Explorer, and test. The Plug-ins folder is located in the Internet Explorer folder. You can locate the folder by using the Find command. For the first test, make sure that only the default plug-in and the QuickTime plug-in are loaded because these are the only plug-ins Internet Explorer installs. Add the remaining plug-ins one at a time. If a large number of plug-ins are loaded, you may want to increase Internet Explorer's memory partition. You can allocate more memory for the program by clicking the program icon in Finder, and then clicking Get Info on the File menu. Increase the number in the Application Memory Size (K) box.
3. Move the Favorites.htm and History.htm files to the desktop and test. The files are located in the System Folder
references:Explorer folder. If Internet Explorer starts, move one file back and test again. Do not delete the Favorites.htm file if you determine that it is the problem. Because it is a text file, you may be able to recover some or all of the data by using a text editor (such as Simple Text), or you may be able to import the Favorites into Internet Explorer safely.
4. Delete the Cache.waf file. It is located in the System Folder
references:MS Internet Cache folder. Internet Explorer re-creates the file the next time you start Internet Explorer.
5. Move the Internet Preferences file to the desktop and test. The Internet Preferences file is located in the System Folder
references folder. If Internet Explorer works, the file is re-created with default settings. Save the new file, copy the old file back, and see if you can view the settings by using the Internet control panel or Internet Config. Avoid deleting this file if you can because it contains your cookies, autofill information, customizations, and so on. Deleting this file should always be a last resort.
6. Perform standard extension troubleshooting. You can find more information at Apple's Tech Info Library Web site (http://til.info.apple.com (http://til.info.apple.com) ). Search for article number 30929.Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information.
7. Temporarily disable font utilities that may be contributing to a conflict. This includes turning off the Font Smoothing feature in the Appearance control panel and turning off Adobe Type Manager, Adobe Type Reunion, and so on.
8. Move all fonts (except the Chicago, Charcoal, Geneva, and Monaco system fonts) to a folder on the desktop and test.
9. Try to prevent Open Transport from attempting to dial when you start Internet Explorer. You can disable this feature in the Remote Access control panel by clicking Options and then clicking to clear the Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications check box. Test to see whether the browser can start if it does not try to connect to its default home page. You can set the default home page to blank in the Internet control panel or in Internet Config.
10. Perform a "clean" installation of the Macintosh operating system (MacOS). Install Internet Explorer and test before installing any other programs and before moving any preferences or other files from the previous system folder.

Use Windows Update to update Windows and Internet Explorer
This method is rated: Moderate.
To complete this method, follow these steps:
1. Start Windows Update, and check for updates. If you need the steps, here they are:
1. In Internet Explorer, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/)
2. To check for important updates, click Express.
Note If you receive an error message when you visit Windows Update, you must first resolve the Windows Update error message before you can continue with the methods that are described in this article. Search for more information about the error message on the following Microsoft Web site:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof....aspx?ln=en-us (http://update.microsoft.com/microsof....aspx?ln=en-us)
2. Install all important updates. If you need the steps, here they are:
1. If any important updates are available for your computer, install them. To do this, click Install updates.
2. If you are prompted to restart your computer after all the updates are installed, restart your computer.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you receive a page that contains the following text:
No high-priority updates for your computer are available
4. Try to install Internet Explorer 8 RC1 again. To download Internet Explorer 8 RC1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/ie8 (http://www.microsoft.com/ie8)
If this method worked, you are finished.
