silly question...kinda

So my sound isnt working anymore and I figure that I need to download a driver.

I saw a thread about this before with a great link to download the driver I need however I need to know exactly what model the media card is that I have. I have a c-media WDM AC97, but I need the specific type and I dont know how to tell. Can anyone tell me where and how I can locate that info on my PC? It would be greatly appreciated!

Well, you can download Everest and find out what are your computer specifications and for your sound driver go here.

I came to that site before but I am always leary to download anything, so it is a legitimate download?

Download SIW , or Belarc Advisor, or WinAudit to know more about the specifications of your system.

Thanks everyone! I downloaded the scanner and got the updated driver, now i have sound. yay!
