I have same problem i did this things

Cleared out temp Internet files in the browser
Archeive everything that older than two weeks
Defrag my hard drive (only 40% full, so that's not it)
    Save the task order
Run in cashe mode in Outlook (but this occurs when I'm not hooked up to the company's network, so it's a PC issue rather than network)

    But no luck. Any suggestions?

Have you tried disabling any add-ins you might have? Does your task manager give any clues (high utilization by outlook or some other process)?
I just read an article where they stated that the biggest biggest cause of poor performance (on the client side) is *total* number of items in your default folders... not overall file size. For what it's worth.

I had same problem with Outlook 2003
My .past file was quite large 1+gig, so I have archived that and created a new one.
it seems to be running fine now!

The delay in opening the program is due to Outlook trying to make sense of the pst file.
If the personal folder is the default delivery location, create a new pst so your email can start working again. Search your hdd for scanpst.exe (should be installed as part of Office) and run the program against the original pst.
If it is as large as you say, prepare for a long wait and use the 'Make a backup option'!

In future, don't let your pst file get over 1.8gb max. Just create new pst's as and when required and move some folders around.
