Windows firewall problem

Hi,

Windows firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated server is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet connection sharing (ICS) service?

Yes / No

When I select Yes I get

Windows cannot start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service

Can you guys help me with this problem?

Do you have a 3rd party virus scan w/ firewall built in?

Something like Norton Internet Security Suite? If so, it disables your windows firewall because Norton I.S.S. is one

Otherwise, try and download Service Pack 2 again, install it, then reboot .

Hey I have a same problem

I've been using Symantec for a year now and Windows Firewall has been working
with it just fine until recently... I don't believe Symantec has a firewall.

So basically, as of now, I have no firewall. How can I turn Windows Firewall
back on?

What changed in your system shortly before the problem occurred? Knowing
about a setting change or added software or hardware may be helpful in
solving the problem.

Have you scanned your system in Safe Mode (F8) for malware (spyware, adware,
trojans, and other pests) using other tools, like

Spybot

Have you tried doing a System Restore to a point in time before you started
experiencing this problem

Maybe you could try doing System Restore and see if it corrects the problem.

Did you have a spyware problem recently and use a spyware remover like Microsoft Antispyware?
