Yahoo messenger connection problem

Hi,
I got this new system on my network with yahoo & AOL installed already.
i can use AOL but not Yahoo messenger can you guys tell me what would be the reason for this?

Have you tried trillian?
I think this will be a better option for you since you can connect to AIM, Yahoo, MSN and ICQ at the same time.

Hey i tried Trillian but that also could not help me since i got all my AOL contacts copied to trillian but not from yahoo messenger. If i add friends from yahoo manually but still they appear offline to me while they are online.
I don't even get messages from yahoo friends & this is the problem with only yahoo messenger i think!
What you guys have to say on this?

You can try proxy settings on your yahoo messenger.

Open Yahoo IM
Click "Messenger"
Connection Preferences
Select Firewall with no Proxies.

1) going back to square 1 - you have created a yahoo account ?
2) if so - you are able to sign in ok ?
3) why exactly can you "not use Yahoo Messenger"?
4) What version is installed ? to find version > Help > About Yahoo Messenger

The problem I faced and found a; Windows control panel / windows firewall / allow a program through the firewall. Check the appropriate boxes allowing access in/out to this app. Also you can check the yahoo messenger / connection ensuring you select the proper choice from the Internet connection drop down [broadband, proxy, T1]. I've toggled between 'broadband' to 'proxy' saving after each selection and this appeared to fix or reset my yahoo messenger connection problem.
