    Orientation to messages are held in memory, and periodically interleaved into the reference store to develop performance. The messages are stored in data logs, which are entity files, 32MB in size characteristically (Though then this is configurable, they can be superior if the size of a message is bigger to the file size). When all the messages in a log data have been lucratively frenzied, the data log file is marked as being ready to be deleted - or archived - which will happen at the next clean up period.

    By evasion ActiveMQ will utilize the AMQ Store - and its default settings. You can organize the properties of the AMQ Store however; by unambiguously defining its persistence adapt (amqPersistenceAdapter):
    Code:
    <broker brokerAdd= "address" persistent= "true" useShutdownHook= "false">
         <persistenceAdapter>
           <amqPersistenceAdapter directory= "activemq-data" maxFileLength= "32mb" />
         </ PersistenceAdapter>
         <transportConnectors>
           <transportConnector uri= "tcp: //localhost:61616" />
      </ TransportConnectors>
       </ Broker>
    The above illustrates the configuration to set the obligatory AMQ Store amqPersistenceAdapter its-through - and unequivocally setting the directory and maxFileLength properties.

    A typical approach for messaging systems dispatching persistent messages Is To pull 'em in batches from long term storage When a customer is Ready to burn' em, using a cursor to the next hairpins to dispatch position. This is a robust and very scalable approach, but not the MOST powerful boxes for When the consumer (s) can keep up with the producer (s) of messages. ActiveMQ 5.0 Takes a hybrid approach, Allowing messages to pass from producer to consumer Directly (after the messages Have Been PERSISTED), goal switches back to using cursors if the consumer (s) fall behind. The VM Cursor IS how ActiveMQ 4.x works: references to a message are Held in memory, and PASSED to the dispatch queue When needed. This can Be very fast, drank Also Has the downside of not Being Able to handle very slow gold Consumers Consumers That Have Been inactive for a long time.
