NTLM authentication with Java Web Start?

I am learning Core Java. I have to confess that Java is really a great programming language developed by SUN. I have a doubt that is regarding NTLM authentication. My doubt is whether I can use NTLM authentication with Java Web Start? Also explain to me what is Java Web Start? I have not enough knowledge about this.

NTLM support was added to Java 1.4.2 only on Windows platforms. Add for this reason you can use NTLM authentication with Java Web Start in 1.4.2 and beyond versions. Although it is believed that The JAuthenticator dialog may consist of some misleading text when using NTLM with Java Web Start 1.4.2, but this is sorted out in Java Web Start 1.5.0.
