    Vcredist.exe is a self-extracting executable file that installs the latest version of the Microsoft Visual C++ run-time files and operating system components that are required by most projects created with Visual C++ 6.0.

    Re: Visual C++ 6.0 run-time components

    If any of the files on the user’s system are newer the runtime module will not overwrite them. The files installed by the Setup Factory 6.0 Visual C++ runtime support module will not be removed when your application is uninstalled.

    These files will not be installed on Windows 2000 or Windows ME. On those two operating systems the Visual C++ runtime components can only be updated by Microsoft, via service packs.

    The Setup Factory 6.0 Visual C++ 6.0 runtime support module will often require your user’s computer to be rebooted before certain files can be installed. If this is necessary %NeedsReboot% will be set to TRUE and the “Needs Reboot” screen will be displayed to your user.
