SharePoint Services 3.0 Configuration Wizard error

What can be the reason behind SharePoint Services 3.0 Configuration Wizard error. I am using SBS 2003 SP1, ISA 2004 SP 3, .NET Framework 3.0, SharePoint Services 2.0, SQL Server 2000 (SHAREPOINT) and WSUS 3.0. Now I am here trying to upgrade SharePoint services to 3.0. But when I go with the installation I am getting some configuration wizard error. Now this is something new found in the configuration setup. I checked in the log and there was some error listed. But I am not able to understand how to fix this.

Try this out. Yo will need to reset the version of ASP.net. You can find that in the web properties. Just reset that to 1.1 and issue iisreset. Check again. If this does not work then the other reason behind the problem is corrupt Sharepoint. You will need to first remove it completely, get a fresh setup and install it back again. Some damage files can be the cause of failure. Microsoft KB Article - KB829114 can provide you more information on getting rid of it. If this does not work then the last and effective option remain is to re-install Windows SBS 2003 SP1 server.
