I have SBS 2003 Premium server and I have installed Service Pack 2 recently on it and after that the Performance Logs and Alerts services are not starting at all. When I check in the logs then I was only getting Event ID 7036. Any ideas?

Follow the below method to solve this issue:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools and Performance, and then click Performance Logs and Alerts.
- From the Microsoft Management Console snap-in Performance Logs and Alerts you can open Counter Logs, Trace Logs, or Alerts. Note that if no logs or alerts are present, right-click in the right-side pane, point to New, and then create new Log/Alert settings.
- Right-click the log or alert, click All Tasks, and then click Start.

Are you by any chance using Windows 2000 or earlier version. If so then you can try to copy "logman.exe" and "pdh.dll" from any Windows XP pc and put it in a separate folder, example "c:\logman_dir" because windows 2000 has its own pdh.dll, so do not overwrite. After that you can add "c:\logman_dir\logman start <your alert name>" in a batch file or can make a shortcut and put it in "Startup" folder.
