    Event Id 1003 System Error

We have a SBS 2003 running from past few years in Dell Poweredge 1800 with 2 NICs, 1 Gb RAM, RAID 5. Yesterday evening I installed Service Pack 1 with Exchange SP2 on the same. After installation I found 30 odd updates in Windows Automatic Update. I installed all of them. Once the system restarted after installing everything, surprisingly I received a Blue Screen with “Driver_IRQ_not_less_or_equal_to” message. When I checked Event Viewer it says the following:

    “Event Id 1003 System Error
    Error code 000000d1, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000008, parameter4 00000000”

I tried searching for help on web and came across KB 837432 but the Hotfix provided there is pre-dates SP1. So it dint worked for me. Can anyone here please provide me some working solution to get rid of this Bluescreen. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I would recommend checking the memory dump to see what the most likely cause of the error is. I did a quick googling and the few pages I looked at with similar stop errors were all driver related.

Feel free to contact me directly if that doesn't help.

Re: Event Id 1003 System Error

Thanks for your support DellCA. So far I talked with Dell folks, as per their instructions I updated ESM, BIOS and DRAC firmware, uninstalled Dell's Open Manage Server Administrator and also re-installed Service Pack 1, but guess what, Still no success. The problems remains as it was before.

I guess the BSOD is due to some driver, even Dell customer care agrees with me but which one is that driver causing the problem? Any help please?

Anyways, finally I managed to solve the problem. After analyzing crash dump file I came to know that the issue was with Mcafee antivirus AsAp software. Did some research on Mcafee Knowledge Base and found that mfetdik.sys file can be renamed without any problem. I did the same. Renamed mfetdik.sys to mfetdik.old and restarted. That’s it. Problem solved.
