how to set Auto-reply for a public mailbox in Exchange 2003

Can anyone tell me a way to setup an auto reply if any mails was send into the public mailbox? For instance, I have a folder in public folder (exchange) called sales public (smtp:sales@mycompany.com), how am I supposed to set when any mails send into this sales public, it will auto response a message to the sender? Thanks.

You need to go the Properties in Outlook 2003 of this public folder and then click on the "Administration" tab, then "folder assistant", and then "add rule" and then create a rule. The only modification that I make is to check the box "Reply with" and then I create a template by clicking on "template" and then click ok. After that a message will pop up saying that "This rule will fire for all incoming messaages. Is this what you want?" You have to ensure that the folder is setup with mail-enable and you give the folder send-as permission.

You can try to set Send as permission for a public folder using System Manager. The setting is found under the properties for the public folder and then Permission tabs and then Directory rights. Hope this helps.
