    printer reinstalling by itself

We are using a HP Printer with our SBS 2003 which was working fine from several months but now it is stuck in a weird loop which is eating up my CPU. At the same time, it generates various entries in Event Viewer. It is as follows:

    Printer Driver hp psc 2100 series for Windows NT x86 Version-3 was added or updated. Files:- hpz2ku07.dll, hpzntp07.dll, hpop2107.dat, hpocabpr.hlp, hpzcin06.exe, hpzscr07.dll, hpzcfg07.exe, hpzcoi07.dll, hpzcon07.dll,
    hpzeng07.exe, hpzflt07.dll, hpzimc07.dll, hpzime07.dll, hpzjui07.dll, hpzlnt07.dll, hpzpcl07.dll, hpzpre07.exe, hpzr3207.dll, hpzres07.dll, hpzrp307.dll, hpzslk07.dll, hpzsnt07.dll, hpzstc07.exe, hpzstw07.exe,hpztbi07.dll, hpztbu07.exe, hpztbx07.exe, hpzvip07.dll, hpocahpr.hlp, hpocampr.hlp, hpocaspr.hlp, hpop1007.dat, hpop1107.dat, hpop1207.dat, hpop2207.dat, hpop2007.dat, hpopd907.dat, hpop4007.dat, hpop4107.dat, hpop6107.dat.

As a troubleshooting I tried updating drivers, re-installing printer and many more but nothing helped. Also when I checked the device manager I saw the listings refreshing itself continuously like searching for some new hardware. I don’t know what should I do to get rid of this annoying problem. Can someone help me out?

    Re: printer reinstalling by itself

Before we do hardcore troubleshooting I would suggest you to try out the basic things required, such as:
    1. Stop the spooler service
    2. Delete temporary files
    3. Deleting other junk from system32\spool and its subdirectories
    4. Restart the spooler

See if it makes any improvement. As you sad that device manager keeps refreshing automatically to me it appears like driver install isn't finishing or something. If the above steps wont fix the problem, you should try uninstalling the printer. Remove its drivers and all other softwares from your computer. Remove everything related to HP. And try a clean install again. Let me know the results.

    Re: printer reinstalling by itself

Thank you very much for the help Viceman, by the way I found something useful meanwhile. While I was trying to connect to the server using remote desktop I saw the option to connect my printer automatically. I think somehow it would create a loop since the printer was shared from my computer was the same from the server. Hence I guess the server was trying to install the printer from my computer but it was already installed on the server and hence it was creating a never ending loop. Anyhow I fixed the problem.
