The requeste media failed to mount. The operation was aborted.

Can anyone help me to deal with the error that I am facing. I am not able to mount a media file. It is giving me mount failed. I had tried to fix the same a number of time but still it is not working. The backup was working fine but somehow looks it that the backup is not working fine. There is a mount media error each time when I configure the updates. I hope there would be some option available that can resolve the but.

As per the problem you had mentioned it looks the issue lies with tape drive. Is there any tape media attached to the server. You can find more information on the error log in error description. What is the exact error you are getting. You can place the error number here and it will guide you to deal with the issue. Check the log and post the complete error report here. On that basis troubleshooting would be more easier.

Here is a KB article that has information on error that you are facing. The error is related to tape drive only. You have to configure the different media block size so that the backup process can manage the available drives. You can find more information on the error and resolution on the same in the link below. You can try running windows update and check back whether you get a proper fix for the same or not.

    2. If you put in a new tape does it start working? Clean the tape drive,
    does it help?

    3. If you configure the backup to backup to a fixed local disk (via the
backup wizard), do you have the same problem?

    4. This issue can occur if the RSM database gets corrupted. Is there any
RSM error in event log? Please try the steps below and see how it goes:

    A. Remove the tape drive from Device Manager.

    B. Remove the tape device from RSM.

    C. Do a scan for hardware changes in Device Manager.

    D. Device Manager should re-detect the device and install it. RSM should
automatically install it a few minutes after that.

    E. Attempt an inventory from a tape with backup data after RSM has
    re-detected and installed the device.
Nathan, just wanted to say thank you. I followed the following steps, and all's well with my backup drive (Sony SDX-560V)
