External companyweb URL for SBS 2008 stopped working.

We are running SBS 2008 since past couple of months. Due to some reason the companyweb site is prompting for credentials and when we enter the same it wont accept. I mean, no credentials are accepted. We have set the authentication of the “SBS SharePoint” web server to windows authentication and ASP .NET impersonation. Any idea what is wrong with the companyweb?

    Please help.

Just try to resolve the name "remote.mydomian.com" from external (ISP DNS) and see if it works. Meanwhile just checkout this thread: How do I configure companyweb (WSS 3.0 / SBS 2008) for external account

I have the same problem and tried everything here and still can not say
    go to 987

My system was working properly until recently, my suspicion is that an
update was applied to the server that caused this problem.

The issue is with all computers whether they are part of the domain or not.

I also thought it might be a port blocking issue with my ISP, however if that was the case is shouldn't work if substitute the actual ip address right?

If I use https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:987/remote it works fine.

I will email you the links in a bit.

It doesn't look like a resolution to this issues was posted. I've been struggling with this all week and this was the only place I could find any information on this issue at all. I found a solution that worked in my case.

    To reiterate, the following worked:
    https://remote.<whatever>.com/remote
    https://remote.<whatever>.com/owa
    https://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:987 (my domain ip)

    this did NOT work:
    https://remote.<whatever>.com:987

After going though everything three times, it all looked good, DNS, DDNS, Sharepoint Config, IIS bindings, router settings, all of it.

So, for laughs, I tried accessing https://remote.<whatever>.com from my personal PC and to my amazement, success! So, after going through all Internet Options on both computers, I found that https://remote.<whatever>.com was listed as a trusted site in the Local Intranet zone under the security tab (no idea how it got there). I moved the url to the Trusted Sites zone, and the problem went away.

Short version to fix: open Control Panel...Internet Options...Security tab...Trusted Sites zone....Sites button... Add https://remote.<whatever>.com to the zone....Select Yes to Move the site to this zone...hit OK until Internet options window closes. Problem solved.

Sorry for responding to such an old post, but I seem to be having exactly the same issue. What tmtm suggested works but it then also asks for username and password when connected to the network.
I've been looking through the trusted intranet site settings and found out that the issue appears to be related to authentication. If I disable automatic authentication for intranet sites then I can access the site from RWW after entering my username and password, at that point it asks me also for credentials when I am connected to the network. If I enable the automatic authentication I cannot access companyweb from rww but it automatically authenticates when I am on the network.
Any idea how I can check/make sure that the credentials are passed on correctly?
