Companyweb cannot connect to configuration database

I am using SBS 2003 server and on that the Companyweb have just stopped working. When I am opening the companyweb in Internet Explorer 7 on the server then I am getting an error "Cannot connect to the configuration database. For tips on troubleshooting this error, search for article 823287 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com." It seems to have started after microsoft updates and am not able to resolve this with the above kb article. Is there any other solutions for this issue? Thanks.

The problem that you are facing can occur if the SQL Server 2000 edition is not patched correctly with SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 after the upgrade from WMSDE. Not sure if you have found a resolution to this problem but i ran across it recently and found that by running the SharePoint Technologies configuration wizard it resolves the issue anytime updates are applied to SharePoint
