    Deploying MSI's with WSUS 3.0??

There are really new features in WSUS 3.0 but somehow it is a bit complicated to deploy MSI on the same. I am not able to find a working manual on the same. But somehow the documentation does not offer me a proper way of configuring th same. I had gone through the documentation on the same but it does not provides a proper updates for the same. I had tried find some videos also on it but somehow it looks many are not using WSUS 3.0. It is better if someone can offer me a direct link to read the manual on the same.

I am also working on the same. But still not able to find some service side configuration that really worked. I had tried to work a bit on System Center Essentials 2007 but still not able to work on it. There are some updates which are immediately triggered once you had installed that. I am wondering about any option that can allow me to work for deploying msi properly on the same.

We were hoping to be able to deploy our own MSI's (that we packaged) with
WSUS 3. Reasons for doing this include 1) being able to see installation
status and more importantly, 2) so that we can deploy apps to remote offices
that connect via slow links where an application deployed via GPO would
normally hold that computer at the login screen indefinitely.

Anyone know how to do this?
I have written a VB8 program that does this, nothing special, and still requires some work on your part, but I use it to manage about 4500 PC's.

It supports, MSI, MSP and EXE updates. You can push anything out (limit is 3 gig file size I think). The work you have to do requires you to create the applicability rules and installed rules, but using Microsoft published guidelines, but once you have done it a few times, you can do it in about 15-20 minutes assuming you have a product ready to update.

If you are interested, go here: http://w3sus.com and sign up. I will be opening it up for comment and additions here in the very near future. ( a few weeks at most ). Sorry you have to sign up, I want to keep track of who uses this and this allows me to do it. I am opening this up earlier for beta testing and feed back to some folks, so if you are interested let me know with the contact form.

    Thanks,

    Jim
