Just right click on the taskbar and choose Task Manager.
Just right click on the image you want to open and where it says "open with" choose the program of your choice. This will then become the default program for opening that type of image.
As a former long time user of Norton I must say there is no comparison. Kaspersky is rated the best AV program by many computer magazine. I use ESET NOD 32 which was number 1 and is now number 2.

Just enter Character Map in the searh box when you open Startup. When it comes up right click and either send it to your Desktop or Pin It to the Start Menu. That way it is readily available.
