BenQ XL2411Z Gaming Monitor

After XL2420Z monitor, today we will test the XL2411Z, the latest gaming monitor trio model of the BenQ brand. We have found few differences in principle from the previous test like a TN Full HD (1920x1080 px) that seems very responsive and always with the functionality of Blur Reduction which makes fun lovers of fast games. Sold at €100 cheaper than its big brother, the XL2411Z must however make some concessions.

Design:

BenQ has provided the minimum service on the design of the plan, since the XL2411X, like the XL2420Z and XL2720Z, took the chassis of the previous series, a stylish, matte plastic, a slight asymmetry in the lower right for menu buttons and a foot whose base is slightly hollowed, allowing them to include a few small items, but beware of the dust.

The foot, precisely, is simpler than the XL2420Z and overcomes the metal handle and the hole for the cables. It is also not easily removed, since it will remove 4 screws to disassemble and access the VESA bracket. It offers complete movements of landscape/portrait orientation, swivel and tilt.

The connection is however a little lighter because we lose the DisplayPort. Similarly, the USB hub is conspicuously absent, and only the headphone output which can recover the sound of HDMI is present. The menu is always full (gamma settings, contrast and color temperature) in an attempt to refine the rendering. We always have the right to 9 preset profiles and save three profiles to switch from one to the other easily. Not surprisingly, consumption is comparable to that of XL2420Z: 33W with default brightness of 320 cd/m². In contrast, there are 20W when the brightness increased to 200 cd/m² or 128 W/m², which is in the middle of the PC screens. For use 8 hours per day, 5 days out of 7, this represents just under €5.5 in the year.

Video Output -

We tested the screen with the default settings, at 144 Hz, and then we tried to improve the rendering settings via the OSD. Finally, we calibrate using an X-Rite i1 Display Pro probe. Calibration does not affect the final grade, but allows us to offer you an ICC profile for download on Digital Focus. The image is bluish and the colors are wrong. Overdrive is called AMA on BenQ screens, with three settings: Off, High and Premium By default, the screen is set to High and has a slight reverse ghosting.

Conclusion -

Frankly speaking, outside of gaming, the monitor does not seem fully satisfactory. The BenQ approach for this monitor is very radical. The color quality is not sufficient for photo editing, contrast inevitably disappoints in the video. In addition, we must deal with some video noise of medium intensity levels. The BenQ XL2411Z monitor is doing well in the video game, but it stops there. Here we are in front of a screen that is not at all versatile. The cost is around Rs.23,000.
