It looks like a portable media player. As you can see in the specification it has 1 GHz Dual Core cpu. And for supporting the graphic out it has Mali 400MHz GPU. That looks like more than enough for traditional games and applications. It is a bit low on ram which is 512MB. There is no internal storage available in it. But on the front there are 2 usb ports. Among which one is used for the remote usb and the other one for storage. You can attach usb as well as external hard drive to it. There is a full size memory card which is also available on the front. The full QWERTY remote has motion sensation capabilities that allow you to use it like a mouse.

While on the backside you can see there are two connectivity ports. The first one is the regular AV Out for traditional TV’s. The package comes with 3 PIN AV out cable adapter, which are the most common connectivity options for DVD players. You can also buy AV Out to VGA adapter to use it with your monitor. The second ports next to that are HDMI where you can get better output on HD monitor and TV. An Ethernet port is also available where you can connect the media player to your lan network and stream multimedia content.

Design:

Woxi SmartPod is a portable device that is easy to use. There is no complex configuration here. In the image you can see it is a small box with connectivity options placed on the back and additional port on the front side. It fits well on smaller space also.

For extending the storage capabilities usb ports are limited. That means among two only one can be used while the other one will be used by the remote. But still you can hook a 32GB SD card on the front side to get more space. There are 3 LED indicators on the front side which give you status information on connectivity and sync.

Remote

The remote looks larger than media player. It has complete text with some keyboard like keys. The center part consists of a long button that features left and right mouse click. You can also see there are hotkeys configured on the top side. There is a power off key with home and search, set of multimedia keys. The remote operates on 2 AAA batteries. Now for games like Angry Bird, the remote features a bit of motion sensing abilities. It is easy to use but sometime annoying. You just have to glide the remote in air from left to right to perform action.

The remote fits well in hand. You can easily type emails, surf web pages, watch videos on youtube and perform all those stuff that you can do on a regular keyboard. Ample of media players available in the market does not offer you a QWERTY remote support.

UI

Adding Android is simply great idea by Woxi. With Gingerbread, you can still access ample of games and applications on it. Through wifi you can connect to internet and instantly download lots of stuff. With different user profiles in it, you can keep things private to some extent. It is simply like locking your desktop. You can personalize the profile as per your choice. Woxi has redesigned the user interface and it doesn't look anything like Android 2.3 that it runs. The home screen shows all the logged in members and also an option to log in as a guest. When you enter your profile you get Apps, Games, Browser, and media.

AppCast:

AppCast is another added advantage in Woxi SmartPod. AppCast gives you your own centralized place to download tons of things instantly without looking or searching on Google Play. With AppCast you can find number of different things instantly. There are hardly any other media players that are capable of giving you this kind of features. AppCast is a cloud based support for SmartPod from where you can download latest apps, games and media content for free. Everything here works online. You will need a good internet connection here. It is free and you can use application, stream videos, directly through the cloud. There is no need to download or worry about storage.

Conclusion:

Woxi SmartPod is a great android media player that comes for Rs.9499. But on the occasion of Holi, Woximedia is selling it for Rs.6499 only. The offer ends at 31st March.
