    Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus smartphone

Samsung galaxy ace plus a new entrant in the galaxy range. It’s a heir to the Samsung galaxy ace which was launched last year. Now let’s see what new features have been added to this new phone, the cpu speed has been increased to 1GHz. Also the screen size has been increased to 3.65”. Overall it does not have a design and performance that everyone can talk about but it’s a phone that is making its name in the value for money category. So let’s unfold each and every feature of the phone step by step.

    Design

Nothing much changes has been made to the existing one, the body is made of the same material, i.e. the shiny black plastic which often feels slippery. The screen size has been upped to 3.65” that ensures that we can reach every part of the phone with the single hand.

Samsung has kept the same old HVGA resolution in this phone as well which I think is the biggest drawback. It has a below average pixel density that does not appeal to the current interface. The only positive thing is the brightness of the screen. The screen does looks good even In the brightest places. Even the side way display of the screen is good. So that’s a plus point.

It only has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash situated at the back of the screen. The volume keys are on the left side of the phone whereas the headphone jack is at the top and power key on the right side of the phone.

The overall dimension of the phone is 114.5 x 62.5 x 11.2 mm and weighs 115 grams.

    Specification and features

It’s time to have a very close look at the specifications and the features of this phone.

    1) In terms of connectivity Phone supports 3G connectivity(HSDPA), wifi, DLNA and hotspot as well. for quick transfer this is Bluetooth 3.0 support and usb 2.0 support.
    2) Camera is 5 megapixels and has only one camera no front camera and it supports VGA video recording.
    3) In terms of memory it has 3GB internal storage memory and can be expanded upto 32GB via. Micro sd card. RAM is 512MB.
    4) It has got 1GHz processor powered by Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread).
    5) Adobe flash support is there in the browsers.
    6) Many imnbuilt apps like MP4/H.264/H.263 player, Organizer, MP3/WAV/eAAC+ player, Document editor, Voice memo/dia, Predictive text input , Image editor and many more.
    7) Standard Li-Ion battery, 1300 mAh.

    Performance

In spite of mentioning the flash support in the browser of this phone, the browsing experience is just average. Well some pages do take a lot of time to load and also some videos do play with a lot of interruptions.

The interface is quite good, the all new TouchWiz 4.0 interface is just a welcome addition for this Samsung phones. The performance of Gingerbread on this 1GHz processor is quite good and does not lacks even in a single stage. Internal memory and ram memory is quite sufficient for this phone.

The camera with 5 megapixel quality and LED flash is somewhat average. The captured images fails to express in details and also the camera has some problems In the focusing. The camera interface hosts all the necessary features such as Panorama mode and Continuous shooting which is quite common in all the Samsung phones. There is nothing to write about video recording, so lets keep that aside.

Now coming to the multimedia sections the TouchWiz 4.0 music player is also a average thing, there is nothing much to write about over here, all the features can be found out in majority of the music players. It would have been great to have a feature like ‘Beats Audio’ which was seen in HTC Sensation XE to be implemented in this phone as well. the sound quality of the phone is average. Talking about the video playbacks then it does not support DivX and Xvid formats. Which is a major setback considering the fact that majority of the Samsung android phones do play that files.

Talking about the voice clarity over the call, clarity is good but the volume is quite low. It would be very difficult to talk on this phone when we are on a busy market or in some traffics.

The battery has always been a problems with all the Samsung phones and the same is the case over here. The phone has been gifted with 1300mAh battery compared to the 1500mAH battery that other Samsung Smartphone’s have. So don’t expect your battery to last even for a single day.

    Conclusion

Overall the phone looks average in terms of design as well as performance. Although we are much relived to hear that it is being placed in the same price range as that of the ACE(not kept in the higher price range), but still there are many alternatives for the users to opt for in that range.

If we take a good example, then Xperia Neo V is a good phone, even xperia arc and also nokia is coming up with its Lumia in the same range and Lg launching optimus black, it would be a hell lot of competition for this phone. There is no doubt that the price of the phone will definitely come down but what about the features? Where the same range android phones from Sony and LG are offering more features then this Samsung galaxy ace plus.

If I had to rate this phone on a scale of 10. I would just give it a 5.
