    G.Skill PC12800

    INTRODUCTION :

Straight from the factory we got a G. Skill kit technosexual DDR3 memory at 1600 MHz, 4GB of capacity and consumption of only 1.35V optimized for Intel Core and Core i7 i5 Lynnfield, but what happens when we tested in AMD (while you prepare the review to Intel)? Find out about how yields and more after the jump.

Physically we have a couple of very neat and elegant reports. The brushed aluminum heat sink has a tribal design with company logo on relief in a half finish and half holographic mirror, something not very common among manufacturers. The kit we reviewed this time running at 1600 MHz and has adjusted its 7-8-7-24 latencies with a power consumption of only 1.35V, which makes them ideal for any enthusiast who seek excellent power / performance or modules that deliver a lot of freedom to overclock. Its price is not prohibitive to $ 130 for this model in U.S. stores.

    The test platform was:
    Hardware :
    • CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1090T
    • VGA ATI Radeon HD5770
    • Eco PC12800 RAM G. Skill DDR3 1600 MHz 7-8-7-24
    • Diablo Compustock RAM 2000 MHz 8-8-8-24 @ 1600 MHz
    • MB Asus Crosshair Formula IV
    • Western Digital HDD-61PRA0 WD1600AABS
    • M2 Topower PSU 600W Active PFC Special Edition

    Software :

    • Windows 7 Professional x64
    • SuperPi Mod 1.5/XS
    • Everest Ultimate 5.30
    • SiSoft Sandra 2010 Professional
    • 64-bit Cinebench r11.5
    • Battlefield: Bad Company 2

We ran each test three times and took the average of the result set to rule out lucky runs or similar effects. While the difference between 2 and 4 GB is seen in heavy-duty applications, our tests do not focus too much on the amount of ram, so we will not see results affected by that. Finally, we could not run both reports to the same latencies, because the Devil did not fall at the same level as the Eco system remained under stock conditions at all times, was disabled Cool & Quiet, Turbo Core and similar technologies.

    Re: G.Skill PC12800

Began the test with SiSoft Sandra and see bandwidth identical in both memories.

We take a look at the Eco latencies and take a slight advantage over the devil because of its tighter latencies.

Diablo Open Everest and stay strong on the G. Skill, giving slightly higher numbers, but nothing that the end user to perceive. Trying to copy files from memory the situation turns around and we see the G. Skill taking a small advantage over their opponents. We SuperPi reports by G. Skill and get a negligible advantage of 0.031 seconds, something that is likely to increase if we use more tweaks and demises.

Again we return to have a change in the results of tests with the Devil retaking the lead in Cinebench and beating the Echo of G.Skill. This changed again when rendering the precarious chase scene included in this issue of benchmark. Lastly, we have a result in favor of the Eco in Bad Company 2, but this time the result could be more favorable for the amount of memory than clarity.

Latencies factory and come to some nice timings of 7-8-7-24 running at 1600 MHz, so we saw how much we could squeeze in a stable latencies, reaching 1800 MHz with only 1.55V stable in memories.

After that we overclock barrier for use 24 / 7 and entered the area of temporary rate increases for particular tests and ready. Our memories skirted the 2000 MHz to 1.7v, but the instability of the system was too much and of course we failed to validate, and see if it's because of the memories or the platform that do not rise further. Regarding latencies, with a little love and 1.41v in Eco we tighten to 6-7-6-21 using the default speed, which left us pretty as considered that stability was enough to have the equipment to that speed all day, every day.

    CONCLUSION :

The G. Skill Eco are an excellent product that pays a spectacular way to a very accessible price level within the relative. If we add the fact that its use is only 1.35V and timings very tight from the factory, we have a kit that begs to be overclocked by enthusiasts to infinity and beyond ..

If, however little you care pc overclock or have a 'green' reports are striking at least in terms of design and away from sinks overloaded contrasting colors, invented names, which have more characters than the human genome or heat sinks and other cooling methods that will hit your cooling system. The only audience that the G. Skill may not be convinced the best is stingy people like me who purchase memory generic or "value" high capacity and low speed on fast and fine memories, the end of the day up netbook with Atom can browse YouTube and Facebook.

The market for bar DDR has changed with the introduction of DDR3 few years ago. Except that their launch, the specifications of the manufacturers were far short of those of JEDEC. A few months later, the manufacturing process and quality of the chips flying, the kits have flourished with features worthy of initial expectations, and I must admit that the arrival of Intel Core iX has accelerated the influx of kits with voltage between 1.5 and 1.65VGSkill goes further by launching a range stamped with a representative of Eco 2x2GB DDR3 1600 with tight timings 7-8-7-24 with a voltage of 1.35V is tested here.

    Re: G.Skill PC12800

The overclocking has become over the years the real holy grail in the world of PCs. Restricted initially to those scholars, he has been democratized to the point that for many manufacturers, it is the argument number one selling product. The establishment by a manufacturer of an arsenal to change frequency and voltage opens the way for optimizing the gain and power consumption without inevitably lead to a decrease in performance.
