Inside of HP Pavilion HDX 9000

To open the screen, there is no latch to actuate the foot plus the weight slab enough to hold it in place. You'll need both hands to open it, because the hinge has a lot of resistance for a good fit. The foot is impressive and provides an opening to 80 °. A second rotating part then comes into play, and it allows a finer tuning of orientation, about 45 °.

The screen is a 20.1 "Wide & Bright, it incorporates a webcam at the top of its hull and 2 speakers Altec-Lansing are placed in the bottom of the hull. Then come the hot keys touch the reader fingerprinting, remote, keyboard and touchpad.

Start with the different things we find around the keyboard. At the top we have the sensitive keys and fingerprint reader. This begins with the Power On, followed by 8 functions that are related to the software QuickPlay Media. In these functions there is the launch of the software, DVD playback, the launch of DTT, the previous track, stop, play / pause, next track and activate the webcam. In the center is the fingerprint reader which allows secure data. On the right, we have more basic functions such as enabling or disabling the Wifi, stop the volume, increasing it, the bass and treble as well as ejecting the CD. These keys operate smoothly and respond to the finger and the eye.

The keyboard is a QWERTY with 102 keys and measures 36.3 x 10.7 cm. It incorporates a numeric keypad. The keyboard is responsive, but typing is not pleasant. The keys are very stiff and dry mint. For the rest nothing wrong, it's very nice to have a real keyboard and mostly complete. As we are on a laptop, a function key is present, it allows a combination of: start using, print, launch the Internet, switch the display mode, pause, change user, increase and decrease brightness. The last 4 have multimedia features: Play / Pause, Stop, Next and previous track.

The touchpad, however, measure 7.00 x 4.00 cm, it is not very large. It is very pleasant to use as surfing is excellent. It features an elevator to the Internet browser on the right. The buttons are quite large and very flexible. Finally a small button to activate or deactivate it on the fly, if you use a real mouse.

Finally, we note the presence of a remote control, which is maintained directly in the shell of the laptop. It is released by a latch. It includes all functions necessary for multimedia use in Media Center or Quick Play, such as changing channels, the increase in volume, recording, etc.. It works perfectly, even more than 5 meters and is therefore very practical.

Test for HP Pavilion HDX 9000

For our tests, we used PC Mark 2005, 3D Mark 2005, 3D Mark 2006 and PC Mark Vantage, which is therefore its first appearance in our tests. Scores for PC Mark Vantage are on course, because since this is the first time we use it, we did not decline with previous tests. We will therefore as an indication, and it mainly used in future tests, because then we will have material to compare.

Faced with the HDX, we put the ZNotes Zepto 6324W which uses a T7300, 2GB of DDR2, a Geforce 8600M GT and a 120GB hard drive 5400 rpm and the Alienware m9700, which is Mobile Turion 64 ML44 2.4GHz, 1GB DDR2, SLI 7900 GS and the HDD 80 GB 5400 rpm.

Sub PC Mark 2005, the HP takes a clear head in all tests. Even at the equivalent configuration Zepto is behind. This is due to the fact that the HP Dual Channel operates at the level of memory, allowing it to have more velocity. Then in the graphics card the XT DH2600 enjoys a clock speed faster, and especially DDR 3 which compete with the Geforce 8600 M GT. Faced with the SLI system, HP is also before, but PC Mark is not the right account at the GPU, the reality is restored in 3D Mark. Finally, the disks are also more efficient, the Hitachi shows good potential, for they are against are heard. On this first test, the HP is ahead.

In 3D, the trend is in fact the HD2600 is far of the two 7900 GS in SLI, and it is quite normal. As against it before the 8600 GT with its score of 3899 points which is the average score of the map in general. DDR3 It greatly helps this card and GPU frequency, which is 680 MHz. It will therefore be possible to play to enjoy the large screen 20 ". Dommage however, such a screen as the graphics card is not more powerful, with even a 8700.

Conclusion for HP Pavilion HDX 9000

It is difficult to clearly define the benefit of such a machine. If we place a mobility point of view, the HDX missing its target, because it is too heavy. From a desktop PC, it is also difficult to define, because even if it offers good performance, it does not separate keyboard, which may be binding in the long run.

Take the HDX as a whole because it has several faces. It is transportable and easy changing of parts. It can perform many tasks, through the office, playing and playing multimedia files. It is a sort of multimedia, which one day will make the office into the living room, and serve as evening to watch a HD movie in his room. It is therefore extremely versatile.
