Introduction and closer look:

Arctic Cooling is a famous company in the world of cooling concern with graphics cards or processors. As for graphics cards ATI and NV Silencer is wonderful quietly to cool graphics cards, even the most powerful. The company also sells boxes with power supplies affected by their care and cooled by two fans of 80 mm of their own. In short, Arctic Cooling does not come first in terms of cooling.Arctic Cooling is a major manufacturer based out of Germany. With their comprehensive line of after-market VGA coolers, as well as CPU coolers, they have a very broad product lineup. Founded back in Switzerland in 2001, Arctic cooling has been providing Europe with performance cooling for 6 years now. Recently opening up their North American division and expanding to provide the entire world with their performance cooling products. Indeed, the Arctic Cooling products are not very expensive compared to prices "shot" of the competition.

Installation and Specifications

The side of ventirads, supply is divided into three families with basic ventirads for socket A or 478, the series of Super Silent, the ventirads a little more prepared for socket 754/939/940, the Silencer and the latest range Dated: Freezer to the K8 and LGA775 socket. For our comparison, we conduct on LGA775 socket, we have provided the Freezer 7 Pro is compatible only with the socket. Indeed, in Arctic Cooling, each ventirad is only one platform, which is enough damage in terms of scalability.

The Freezer 7 Pro has a little brother: the Freezer 7, which differs by a less powerful fan and the presence of only 2 heat pipes. Therefore it is not compatible with all Intel processors since it is limited to the Pentium D 820 Dual Core later. It is therefore natural that we opted for the Freezer 7 Pro which in turn is equipped with 3 copper heat pipes. These leave from the base, also in copper, then through many aluminum fins. Note that the first three curves are to divert a portion of the airflow to the mosfets.

The low speed 92 mm fan reduces the noise level to a minimum. The patented fan holder is able to practically eliminate the typical buzzing sound of 92 mm fans. The PWM chip in the motor allows an exact fan speed control via BIOS. (4 wire)

In contrast to these curves, we find the 92 mm fan clipped to the fins via a very wide and ventilated chassis. In this way, the blades of the fan can take it to the air but also on the sides, bottom and top. In its effort to offer products silent Arctic Cooling fan fixed to the chassis via screws rubber flexible. This obviously has the effect of limiting the transmission of vibrations. This fan is announced for 300 to 2500 rpm. This variation is made possible by the four connector introduced by Intel with its LGA775 socket. Remember that this connector is used on the traditional 3-point taken. It was announced to a capacity of 45 CFM. The whole does not weigh too heavy because the weight is 520 grams.

6 Heat Pipes (three used double sided) are able to transfer heat up to 200 Watt. The heat exchanger is built of 42 fins and consists of a surface area of over 4700 cm2 and allows for resistance free energy transfer to air.

The installation does here that since the LGA775 socket Freezer 7 Pro is compatible with this socket. The fixing system is very simple since it takes the principle of ventirad Intel Box. These clips using the four holes arranged around the socket. It is not necessary to remove the motherboard to install it. Installation is performed in less than 10 seconds, a true happiness. It must of course be positioned so that the fan blows air into the fan housing or to the rigor to the fan in food prepared with in this case, the risk that it would draw its air from the side of the graphics card which as everyone knows is a component that heats a lot.

Most interestingly, we have kept for last: the price. It is indeed available from only $ 25 ...

Summary of specifications

  • LGA775 socket compatible
  • Copper Base
  • Three copper heat pipes
  • Radiator consists of aluminum fins
  • Fan 92mm - 300 to 2500 rpm
  • Weight 520 grams
  • Radiator Dimensions: 126.5 (h) x 58 (width) x 104 (depth) mm
  • Average price: $ 25

Conclusion:

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for only $25 caught our attention in a positive way. It offered very good performance. In short it is an ideal solution for those who want to replace the ships with their ventirad processor. Its only drawback is that it is compatible with only one socket: LGA775, but the mirrored for Athlon 64 is the Freezer 64 Pro also cheap. A bit more clearance on the cooler between the base plate and the start of the heatsink fins would have been nice as well, it would have helped to avoid the clearance issues.

Pros

  • Low Noise
  • No vibration
  • Low Price

Cons

  • Only one socket: LGA775
  • Mounting is awkward
