    Cooler Master Sileo 500 Case

Cooler Master therefore not leave any crumb on the market for housing, after hyper-ventilated box (HAF-932), the aluminum casing (ATCS-840), here come the box silent: the Sileo 500.

The newcomer from Cooler Master will aim to minimize the noise your setup thanks to its chassis and panels covered with moss.

Then see what will happen in this case means tower design attractive.

Here in this Review of Sileo Cooler Master 500 We will cover the following Points:

    1. Exterior
    2. Interior
    3. Montage

Cooler Master 500 Sileo - Exterior

    1.Exterior

For the general design of the box, Cooler Master has done some moderation. The case is black with brushed aluminum facade, while the bottom of the front a line appears bright blue when the ignition box.

At the top of the facade, the Cooler Master registration takes place in the top left. Below are arranged five 5.25-inch bays can accommodate optical drives, caches of these berries are also in brushed aluminum.

Under the 5.25-inch bays, there are two 3.5-inch bays one is convicted because the USB ports to two, an e-Sata port and two audio jacks are present. Note the disappearance of the FireWire often used for digital camcorders.

The lower part of the home front as we said earlier a line of light blue. This feature is actually composed of very fine translucent buttons arranged vertically. They actually hide the buttons and start the reset, when the box is on the line broadcasts a translucent blue halo effect of the most beautiful.

The rest of the case is very simple, since the side panels and the top of the box are each composed of a single block, no frills just a small notch on each panel for easy removal.

Under the box nothing special either, apart from the presence of two screws in the hard drive cage, we shall see later on what they serve. A word on their feet, they are mere rubber feet glued to the chassis.

As to the rear of the cabinet, we can see that the space for food is at the top of the box. There are logically below on the left the space for an exit from the motherboard and its right, a 120mm fan. At the bottom, the seven PCI bays are present on their right with a few holes for ventilation.

Cooler Master 500 Sileo - Interior

    2.Interior

Once the left side panel removed it reveals the inner space of Sileo 500.

But back to the panel, it is lined on the inside of a dense foam stuck with double sided. The foam is not smooth but there is a relief of bumps and hollows, it looks memory that is prepared on the boards of the Cosmos.

The foam lining the two panels (left and right) and the lower box and upper box. Cart hosting the motherboard does not foam as the right side panel in his back is filled.

As against the vertical front and back of the box does not foam. To the front, it's not too serious because the front covers. To the rear, it is not important either because this part is often facing a wall.

The rest of the box is all that is more conventional:

    - The 5.25-inch bays hosting optical drives are in the top right, two places below and 3.5 inches at the bottom a cage can accommodate three hard drives placed perpendicular. It is also removable via two screws on the basket hosting the motherboard and two others in the box.

    - The location for the power supply is in the top left and the motherboard takes place just below. Note that all surfaces of the frame into contact with food are covered with foam to minimize any vibrations caused by it.

As for the breakdown of Sileo 500, it has two 120mm fans turning 800tpm fed by taking 3 pins that connect to the motherboard, molex adapters supplied. The first aspiration is located at the front of the box between the front and the hard drive cage, the second extraction is just the back of the box above the PCI slots next to the outputs on the motherboard.

This means that the two fans turning 800tpm seems a little weak, but they will be sufficient for most configurations. If you only have a single hard disk, you can install at the site for floppy drive to remove the hard drive cage and leave space for the suction fan can s express.

Another oddity, the fans are set with long, hard plastic rivets. It was surprised not to see rubber mountings to reduce vibration even if the fans not to turn 800tpm.

Cooler Master 500 Sileo - Montage

    3.Montage

To start editing, we open the box. This is done via two screws hand the left pane while two screws hold the classic right panel.

The motherboard is not immune to the nine screws for fixation as the four needed for power supply, but with a flat for mounting power supply since foams present at different places in contact with the chassis forcing firmly push power supply into its place.

Optical drives are much better off than power supply, but we must remove the cover to remove the mask that hides the location. Once the cache and withdrawn after the player slipped into its place, simply push a big catch to the front of the box to block the drive. It is actually two metal pins that take place not in the drive screws to fix.

The two locations 3.5 inches below the 5.25-inch bays enjoy the same treatment. The hard drive cage to receive it from another system, with rails that arose on each side of the hard disk, you just have to slide the disk into the given slots. In addition, the rail vibration limit with rubber grommets that absorb between rail and pins.

Last ease mounting fasteners PCI. It is a system similar to HAF-932 although this is not the same. Just press the latch to allow the release of PCI cache, install the PCI card and close the latch until they snap.

Cooler Master 500 Sileo - Results

    4.Results

To assess the Cooler Master, we have compared to A + Seenium already tested in our columns as this box contains the same chassis as the CM-690 Cooler master but also because it is a case very close to the level of size (medium round) and ventilation (2 fans 120mm).

The test configuration has changed somewhat since the last time but we have mounted in both boxes for comparison.
To them, we run the demo software benchmark 3DMark 06 for 2 hours to apply most of the configuration.

To assess the ability of the Cooler Master 500 Sileo to stifle noise, we have made a number of measures to 50cm box from different angles with the set-up operation inside the box.

First established, 500 Sileo as we fear is not a lightning cooling because the temperatures reached by our Core 2 Duo E6420 reach 45.5 ° C (average of two hearts) with a Xigmatek Red Scorpion whereas in the Seenium the average temperature of the processor is only 38 ° C or 7 ° C difference.
The graphics card is not affected by the performance of housing because it has a cooling system disproportionately, but it earns 1 ° C at rest and over in Sileo 500.

Another finding but does not appear in the graph, the extraction fan was not fast enough, it forces the Power supply to do the job in his place and so the power supply is heavy, this which is not the case with the Seenium since the power is down.

For noise, the Cooler 500 Sileo obviously doing much better than on the thermal performance.
We wanted to know if the foam on the panels had an impact, we have made a measurement with and without panel. The result is less 3dBA panel filled with foam on Sileo, corresponding to give you a scale, the division of the noise heard by two. Indeed, we consider that 3dBA difference is the doubling of noise perceived by the ear. In the same way, the panel Seenium not filled with foam reduced by "only" 1.2 dBA noise emitted by the configuration.
There is little difference between the 500 and Sileo Seenium on measures taken in front and behind the camera because they are fans of both packages that make the difference.

Cooler Master 500 Sileo - Conclusion

    5.Conclusion

The Cooler Master Sileo 500 is a nice box, it must be said. Front plastic and aluminum-steel chassis is not really ugly even more successful. It's really the simplicity of the facade that is the charm of this small 500 Sileo since blue light is used both as an indicator of state but also to switch.

As to the first of 500 Sileo, ie stifle the sound of a configuration, it does very well as we have previously seen, but at the expense of performance thermal forcing our diet of test out the warmth of our configuration and make it more noisy.

Attention, however, the notion of silent box, this cabinet will not make silent configuration composed of noise. Everything is a matter of compromise, as your choice of components based on usage that you will do.

The only black point of the Cooler Master Sileo 500: its breakdown. He would have won fans faster. 1000tpm was a minimum 1200tpm even knowing that they can be regulated by the motherboard. Especially because the difference in noise between 800 and 1000tpm is quite limited and a fan processor or graphics card will probably much more noise and more if the hot air is not evacuated.

Forget the point that generally angry: price, Rs.4,500 INR in retail price. In view of competition, this is not an exorbitant price. But we really want more efficient fans for not having to buy.
