software distribution service 3
Windows Auto Update installed SDS3 on my computer and kept re-installing same
everytime I did a restore to delete the program. I disabled auto updates, but
could not uninstall the SDS3 because it did not show up on the "update" in
add/remove programs. I went into the bios, nothing there. I restored 5 days
earlier than the initial installation of 7/9 and cannot uninstall the
program. My computer no longer recognizes cd's since this was installed. I
place a cd in the computer and nothing happens, I tried a music cd and
nothing, I tried a game cd - nothing. I am also getting some e-mail delivery
returns. How do I get rid of this program, I have been working on this for a
total of about 12 hours, and am truly frustrated.
RE: software distribution service 3
I had never heard of SDS3 before your post. A quick search on Google shows
that it is not a Microsoft product. I doubt that Windows Auto Update
installed it; more likely some other software package you installed on your
PC installed this for updating their own software. Either that or worse. As
cautious as one must be about Microsoft Updates, I don't think this one is
their fault or their doing.

Re: software distribution service 3
Software Distribution Service 3.0 is a generic name for restore points
created when updates are installed. Each time updates are installed,
whether one at a time or a group of updates installed in one all at
once, the restore points will all have the same name, Software
Distribution Service 3.0.
Does that clear up any confusion as to what it is ?
