Convert local profile to roaming profile on SBS
I am right now managing a number of networks, one of which is not using a server at all and am looking to upgrade to roaming profiles to allow users to move around more. Every machine currently has a single local profile for a user, and only one person uses each machine at the moment, hence single profile. Can anyone tell me how to migrate these profiles and keep all settings intact to an AD server to allow roaming profiles? Thanks
Re: Convert local profile to roaming profile on SBS
Incase you are planning to install SBS server then yes, when you add the computer to the domain as the user using the connect computer wizard then you can migrate the profile. Once that is done then you can setup the relevant profile locations in AD for the users.
Re: Convert local profile to roaming profile on SBS
I think that you can try to remove the profile path on the users properties in AD Users and Computers. You need to first ensure that users have logged on atleast with their roaming profile in the machine they intend to use or alternatively just keep the roaming profile data on the server handy just in case users have stored data they might need in there.
