Though the iPhone 3G is thinner at the edges than its predecessor, the phone measures a hair thicker (0.48 inches versus 0.46 inches) in the gut. The other measurements are the same except that it weighs just the slightest bit less (4.7 ounces versus 4.8 ounces). Otherwise, the iPhone 3G shows few cosmetic changes from the front--same display size and resolution, and the single Home button sits just below the screen. We're very pleased to see that Apple has done away with the irritating recessed headphone jack, which now is flush so that you'll be able to use any 3.5mm headphones you like.
But turn over the iPhone 3G, and you'll see more significant changes. A black, plastic skin replaces the current silver-aluminum back. The swap may cut the cost, but we worry about its long-term durability. The 8GB model will come in black only, while Apple promises the 16GB version in black and white.

This is one feature that was on our original iPhone wish list. While the current iPhone location services find your position via nearby cell phone towers and satellites, the iPhone 3G uses Assisted GPS supplemented by satellites. It also offers live tracking so you can monitor your progress as you drive (or walk) along. We're excited to see this feature as well, as it fills in another gaping hole on the original handset. You'll also find photo geotagging, and third-party applications with turn-by-turn directions are in the works.

It dropped out in a couple of London’s alleyways, but quickly recovered once you got back to wider streets.

No wonder if this is a better experience if only we compare it to other mobile browser in other mobile phone. With HSDPA, streaming all videos in YouTube will be seamless enough. Third-party apps
Speaking of which, the iPhone 3G will indeed support the collection of apps available through the iPhone SDK--no surprise here. Apple promises to open an apps store in early July (Apple didn't release an exact date); we're guessing by July 11. Gaming apps should feature prominently; many will integrate with the phone's accelerometer.
Enterprise support
Worker bees will be pleased to know that the iPhone 3G will offer support for Microsoft Exchange Server. That will bring push e-mail, contacts and calendar, remote wipe, global contacts access, and auto-discovery. That's another welcome change as it puts the iPhone in the hands of a whole new class of corporate users who now will be able to get their work e-mail on the iPhone.
With iPhone SDK, enterprises are able to develop and deploy their app as secure as possible. However, unlike Android, Apple keep encouraging every enterprise or individual to put their apps on the dashboard of App Store first. So that this app could live side by side with other app too. Good plan though.

Safari oh Safari. One of the fastest browser I’ve ever use has get it special portion on this iPhone version. Apple’s team promise you a view of web page the way it is designed to be. And more! Safari has an ability to sync your bookmark from your PC or Mac. We love it to be. Unlike its desktop version that push you to click the [ctrl] + [+] button, this one only need your tap or pinch to zoom the web page. But not just that, Safari iPhone 3G version also let you to view web page in landscape or portrait mode by rotating the iPhone at 90 degrees
But there’s more good news. We raced it against a Nokia N-series mobile running on Vodafone’s HSDPA network, and the iPhone was first nearly every time. Whether this is down to the network, or Safari’s superior rendering, is unclear, but the benefit is: your webpages and downloads, faster.
There’s more. Wi-Fi reception seems to be improved over the previous iPhone. In one part of our office, the new iPhone showed full wireless signal; the old iPhone only one bar.
Music and video playback are excellent. You still need a Wi-Fi network to connect to the iTunes Store, so you can’t threaten the data usage policy by downloading videos.

From those 70 lucky countries, Japan and Hong Kong will be the first Asia region to meet and greet this wonderful handset on that July 11. While other countries like India, Singapore, Qatar, Jordan, and Philipphines will also find this iPhone 3G after that date. Apple haven’t made any announcement yet on this issue. I am sure that this is the field for mobile bloggers to become yet another rumor-mongers for iPhone 3G.
What's missing in Apple 3G iphone
We hoped for an even larger bundle of features in this round. Apple still leaves multimedia messaging out of the mix along with voice dialing and video recording. We still don't understand why Apple can't include these basic features, many found in even the cheapest and simplest cell phones. We were also hoping for a landscape keyboard, the capability to cut and paste, Flash support for the Safari Web browser, expanded memory, and additional Bluetooth profiles. Apple, you left us hanging in a big way. It's also disappointing to hear that the dock is now sold separately for $49, but we suppose that helped cut the price. No, you don't need the dock, but it's nice to have. Even the power adapter and the SIM card removal tool that now come in the box won't make up for its loss.

In India iphone price is Rs.31,000 (8GB). It's very high compare to other countries. In India some features also not working then there is no woth to spend high amount for 3G iphone. Insted of that Nokia N96 is best

One of the big selling points of the iPhone 3G is its ability to allow you to surf the Web via the built-in Safari browser.
You can access the Internet when you’re out and about via the 3G broadband network. When you’re within range of a Wi-Fi network, you can use that instead.
The built-in Safari browser is designed to show web pages as they are, ie they’re shrunk to fit the screen. You can turn the iPhone on its side to get a better view, and tap the screen twice to zoom up on sections of web page.
While of course you can’t expect to have the same web experience on a mobile phone as you would a desktop or notebook computer, overall, this approach works well.
