downgrade windows vista ultimate to windows home basic
Earlier I was using Vista Home basic on my MSI laptop. After few months I thought to upgrade the OS to Ultimate version. I checked the system requirements, everything was fine. Hence upgraded it to Ultimate. Now after the upgrade I found that there are various MSI built in applications such as camera application that wont work anymore. I re-installed their drivers but nothing seems to be helpful.
So now I want to Downgrade again back to Vista Home Basic. Can anyone please tell me how can I do the same?
Re: downgrade windows vista ultimate to windows home basic
Yes of course you can do it if you have the Vista Home Basic installation disc. And as far as I guess, you might have got this OS pre-installed with the laptop. If yes, then I doubt if you have the installation CD with you. So the only option is to buy a new Home Basic DVD and perform a clean install.
RE: downgrade windows vista ultimate to windows home basic
Hey guys I have a similar but huge problem. Recently I too upgraded my Home Basic edition to Vista Ultimate and since then nothing is working any more on this computer. Even MS Office is not working. There is no restore point, I can see the windows.old folder in my C drive but I don’t know how I can retrieve data from there.
Any help will be appreciated. Please provide some solution.

You can simply restore you back up if you have created a backup of your VHB system before starting the upgrade. And if it is not there and Home Basic was OEM then you can run the restore CD or software that would have came with the system. It will give you your Home basic again.
