I am already having a old Dell laptop where Office 2003 is already running without problems. I bought a one more Dell laptop last week and trying to install Office Professional 2003 but every time it gives me and error and setup quits.
It says something like “can not locate xp”. Damn, what kind of error is this ? Somebody please help me getting rid of this installation problem.
Are you trying to install office 2003 from the CD you got with the old laptop ? If yes, than it will not complete the installation ever because those use to be the OEM version and cannot be transferred to any other pc. They come preloaded on a particular computer and end up with the same. Secondly can you please list the exact and complete error message ?
Thanks for the quick help friend. First of all I was not aware of this term ‘OEM’, thanks for letting me the same. But let me tell you that I’m not installing Office on the new PC with old CD. It is the new one I bought last week itself for the new dell laptop. What now ?
As this is new Dell laptop, it might have come with pre-installed Office Trail suite, right ? Did you removed it before installing the new one ? if not, that is creating the problem. You should uninstall Office Trail, run Disk Cleanup to clean every entry related to the same, restart the laptop and than start installation of purchased Office 2003. It should work.
