no sound when downgrading from vista to xp
I bought a Hp Pavillion dv6000 laptop about 6 months ago that came pre-installed with Windows Vista. But as the operating system has many compatibility problems I downgraded it to Windows XP. Entire process went fine and even system is working well except the sound. Somebody suggested me to optimize bios settings to get the sound working. I don’t know how to do that.
Please help.

Who told you about optimizing bios and all? There is no need of doing all those things. Infact you just need to visit HP download Center, enter your laptop’s model number and download Audio driver depending your operating system. That’s it.

Hello CoYoTeA,, we need to change the BIOS settings as well to make sound work if the board has onboard sound card. Being a HP laptop, I don’t think you need to do it. Simply install Audio driver from the driver CD you might have got with laptop or download it from their site. It should work fine.
