Windows Vista 100% CPU usage all time
Since last days all my programs (on windows Vista 32bit) are eating up constant 100% CPU. They few times (just few times) comes below 70% or remains upto 100 itself. No matter which program am running , get the same result. Let me list here few of them, those are kype, MSN messenger, WMP, explorer.exe, taskmanger, etc. is it my hardware problem or something wrong with Vista ?
re: Windows Vista 100% CPU usage all time
Well it could be Hardware as well s software problem. If you are low in RAM and HDD remains always busy, you are going to get 100% constant CPU usage. How much Ram do you have ?
re: Windows Vista 100% CPU usage all time
I’ll suggest you to perform a clean boot first and troubleshoot the problem. This will be easy to get the cause of the problem. To know how to troubleshoot in Clean boot, Check this Microsoft KN: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;929135 .
Other than you should also download any good anti malware and scan your complete system. I guess there would be any malware that is creating the problem.

Most of the Indexing also cause high CPU usage. Did you checked for the same ? Do it and also go through Error Checking as well hard drive defragmentation. Meanwhile don’t forget to perform and install latest Windows updates.
re: Windows Vista 100% CPU usage all time
I was facing exactly the same issue since last couple of weeks on my Dell system. Each and every program I run, even a small notepad was consuming 100% cpu. After wasting enough time with the Vista software, when I opened the system I found that the CPU FAN was not running at all. So the problem was the FAN. I spent few hours on web and found a tool called ‘Dell Inspiron/Latitude/Precision fan control utility’. You can download and install this to see if your fan is running fine. Download it from here
