Is SVCHOST.exe using large amount of RAM?
I am using Windows Vista 64bit on my Desktop with 4GB of Ram. Since last couple of weeks I’m noticing that the process svchost.exe is using about 200,000 K of RAM. Is that normal ? I don’t think because earlier it was not so high I guess (not sure). For instance when I click ‘go to service(s)’, I can see the following used:
Quote:
WPDBusEnum
WLansvc
WdiSystemHost
Wudfsvc
UxSms
TrkWks
TabletINputService
SysMain
PcsSvc
Netman
hidserv
AudioEndpointBuilder
I tried getting some help by scanning with avira antivir & avast! As well as Spybot but dint found anything wrong. So I just need to confirm whether it is normal or mine is getting higher ? if its higher please let me know some fix.
Thank you.
Re: Is SVCHOST.exe using large amount of RAM?
As you are using 4Gb of RAM I don’t that might be affecting yoru performance in any way. However most probably I think the cause of this would be Windows Vista’s new memory management techniques supports.
With this new technology, the system uses free/available memory for housekeeping chores usually with the help of Superfetch and cache maintenance. And later the system keeps providing the memory to particular programs if they need or as per their necessity reducing availability to Superfetch. So I dint think you need to worry here.
