Configuring IIS 7 on Server 2008 for WSUS 3
I checked some page on microsoft that tells to modify the system32\inetsrv\applicationhost.config file after installing IIS 7 on Windows Server 2008 but I didnt find that instructions clear and thinking if anyone has different approach. I want to move my existing WSUS 3.0 from a Windows Server 2008 32 bit installation to a Windows Server 2008 64 bit installation. The WSUS installation on the 32 bit server has been operating when it was installed shortly after Windows Server 2008 went RTM. In the file system32\inetsrv\config\applicationhost.config, there is a <system.webServer><modules> tag and there is also a line with <add name="CustomErrorModule"> inside that tag. Can anyone tell me what is that?

WSUS requires that Internet Information Services (IIS) be installed on the same server as the WSUS server software. If you install WSUS on a server that is running at least Windows Server 2008, IIS can be installed at the same time that you install WSUS by using Server Manager. For all other operating systems and installation methods, you must install IIS before you install WSUS. For more information, go to this link - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...10%29.aspx#iis
