What I found is that now on the download site of dell I can see a sigmatel driver for this issue. I had tried to find the right drivers to avoid the error and found that IDT is now own by sigmatel. So if you are using IDT drivers rightnow then you will face that error. You have to find the right sigmatel drivers and install the same in your pc. Then check back once again. The coded must be overwritten and it should work fine.
The issue is cause because of corrupt sound drivers. This can be fixed only if you had put the exact version of audio driver which is used in your system before and worked fine. So first thing you can do is restore the old drivers file if you have, or simply get a newer version and update it. If not also try to find old version and check them one by one. A Dell version of SigmaTel driver might fix the issue as mentioned above.
