ERROR 1720 - Problem with Windows Installer Package

I want to install a new version of Ad Aware 2007 I have just bought and at the time of downloading it, it is trying to delete the older version of the program and I get the below error message:

Error 1720. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support person or package vendor.

I have tried to go to add and remove programs and deleted the old program directly but I still get the same error message. Any ideas? Thanks.

You can try to download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility by searching it on the web to solve this issue.

Thanks for responding, but that didnt work, after running it and restarting I am still getting the error message. I am not able to add or delete any programs from my system anymore?

Thanks but any of the suggestions are still not working for me and I get the same error message. I called microsoft and they told me the same method to no avail.

I am having the same issue and have tried everything listed but nothing seems to work. I hope someone figures this out because I cannot update my antivirus software any more. Please someone help.
