Yesterday I bought a new Laptop with Windows Vista Preloaded. I have few video files in .avi format but when I play this in WMP, it only plays the audio with blank screen. I mean, it is not playing the video, but only audio.

Windows Media Player wont play .avi or .flv files unless and until it has the right codec installed. So, first of all you download Klit Codec or DivX from here http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/codec/, install it on your system and then try playing avi video. You wont begetting any more problem.
