Slow performance when working online with offline files
We have few laptops with Core 2 Duo with 2Gb RAM and running with Windows Vista business. Usually we need to work with offline files that is about 12Gb and synced with Windows Server 2003. Offline performance is fine but when we work Online, system gets too slow with constant HDD Activity and High number of Hard Page faults/sec (350 approx). I have wasted about a month to get it fixed by yet not succeeded. Is here any one having experience about this ? Please help me fix the issue. Thank you.
RE: Slow performance when working online with offline files
You will need to go through few tests to get the cause of the problem first. So open Task manager and go to Performance tab. Here note what is the free and Cached memory. Usually our Vista eats up the free one and loads the same to cached memory.
Once done with this, open Resource Monitor and click memory Group to expand. Here see if the image svchost.exe is having escalating Hard faults. You should stop the Offline Files Service. This will remove whatever the faults and restores the System’s performance.
