Is there a way to delete failed updates from update history?
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and was having trouble
with monitor installation. HP finally said I did not need to install
their cd since monitor drivers were pre installed on computer.
Now I am getting the following update which keeps failing,
HP - Other Hardware - HP w1907 Wide LCD Monitor
Installation date: ‎03/‎26/‎08 8:26 AM
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 80070005
Update type: Recommended
HP Other Hardware sofware update released in November, 2006
More information:

Help and Support:
http://support.microsoft.com/select/?target=hub
Since I'm not sure I need this update, it keeps showing up as
failed and I will eventually have hundreds of failed attempts in
my history. I would like to avoid this.

How to hide updates -
Click View available updates
Right-click on the update you wish to hide
Click Hide Update
Confirm the UAC (User Account Control) if appropriate.

Thanks, I did this for the future updates but is there a way to delete
failed updates from the history.

Why worry about it, the update failure is history. Just hide it if it
appears again as a available update. You should leave history alone{not try
to rewrite it} unless you have specific update failure where Microsoft
recommends resetting Windows Update {which removes all history} as a
corrective action.
